If you have ever read anything by Parker J. Palmer, you probably remember it. The attendees at a celebration dinner who heard Palmer give this address surely remember it. That's what this resource is, a transcript of Palmer's address. He begins by debunking the Marxist idea that matter is more powerful than consciousness, reveals that idea to be common outside of Marxism as well, and then draws the listeners / readers back to Jesus and the traditional Christian understanding that external reality does not dictate our spiritual reality. Thus, his message to leaders is not to focus on the external (results, bottom line, bureaucracy, etc.) but to lead from within (spiritually).
