Dr. H. Harold Davis (1926-2002) said in one of his sermons: "Our mission, both as individuals and as a congregation of God's people, can be described in terms of our mandate to make God visible - his holiness, mercy, and compassion active - in the world today...'To see your face is like seeing the face of God.' That declaration, first uttered centuries ago, gives every one of us something important to think about. It also gives us a clear vision of what we ought to be - and do."

To his colleagues and admirers in the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Harold Davis was the chief executive for Christian education, an advocate for children and youth, a champion of the weak and poor, a risk taker. He was also a pastor and preacher who preached nearly 3000 times during a ministry that spanned more than half a century.

This book celebrates his life and ministry, and challenges each of us to show in our face the face of God.
