Fun for your young reader, especially the reluctant reader!
In 1985 Marvel Comics tried to expand their sales to children by starting a line of humorous kids / funny animal comic books. They called the line Star Comics. This trade paperback collects nine of those early issues, featuring the first appearances of these characters:
Planet Terry is searching the galaxy for his lost parents and has lots of adventures along the way with green-skinned alien Omnus and female robot Robota.
Royal Roy is the ultra-rich Prince of Cashelot, with a butler and a huge mansion, but somehow is also a regular kid. (If that sounds a lot like Richie Rich, Harvey Comics thought so too; they sued Marvel.)
Top Dog is a super-smart talking dog who used to be a secret agent but now pals around with young human Joey Jordan to have all sorts of adventures.
Wally the Wizard is a boy wizard (long before anybody knew Harry Potter) back in the days of castles, drawbridges, and dragons. He learns wizarding from an older, more experienced wizard named… Marlin (no, that’s not a typo).
